Responsibility – The Ability to Respond

December 19, 2008

Responsible – Required to do something; accountable

Response-ability is the ability to respond, thus taking care of something that needs or has to be done, whether it is for yourself or someone else.

Many people including ourselves love to complain. We complain, blame others, play victim, feel burdened, don’t understand ourselves, and in the midst of that we may not do what we have to do in order to begin to see the change we want to see, nor get a step ahead because we fall short to our own irresponsibility.

We have a hard time grasping the concept of what we need to figure out and where we need to go next. What is it that we really want? Where is it that we need to go?  Practicing self control may tend to become a thing of the past and we become fanatics to the temporary pleasure we create, leaving us to suffer consequences in the long run.

We must understand and internalize that we change the world when we change ourselves. This is why responsibility is so important. An attitude of responsibility opens up realms of possibility and potentiality. Responsibility isn’t a burden. When we respond to situations from a position of confidence and joy, the feeling of weight from obligations disappears. Being responsible allows us to create the environment we wish to live in.

May you learn to solve your own answers and understand your misfortunes so you can begin to make decisions that bring about true satisfaction.

Meditate on that and begin to practice your ability to respond.

Responsibility is really hard for some people to understand. It is indeed what makes a difference in your everyday life. The choices we make not only effect us but everyone around us and everyone around them!

This is a really inspirational quote…and I agree with the previous comment – so often people don’t take responsibility for their own lives. Its so easy not to…
